By Gensler Seattle: Over the last several weeks, a lot has changed in our daily lives. Today our world revolves primarily around the inner walls of our homes. When we do venture out, our neighborhoods are virtually unrecognizable with plywood façades shuttering the doors and windows of our favorite local haunts. With unprecedented repercussions from COVID-19 weighing heavily upon us, optimism is one thing that continues to propel us forward.
How can the owners of airports, convention spaces, hotels, offices, malls and other commercial spaces create environments that accommodate the changing nature of how public spaces will work as we “open up” post COVID-19?

I am thrilled to announce that the SEGD Board of Directors has unanimously selected Cybelle Jones as the new Chief Executive Officer of the organization. She will join SEGD at a critical moment, bringing fresh energy and empathic leadership in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the ever evolving and critical aspect of time during the fight against COVID-19, hospitals around the world are having to rapidly adapt their facilities to accommodate testing, infection control, and inpatient care. Eric LeVine and his team at NBBJ have proposed a wayfinding system for COVID-19 to help direct patients to the right place.
"May you live in interesting times," goes the ubiquitous phrase (curse?) of dubious origin—and here we are, strangely both closer together, and farther apart than ever before. But designers and fabricators dig a challenge, right? The SEGD community is a truly special group of people from around the globe—bound together by their warm collegial comportment, and love of design excellence and shared experiences—who continue to find creative ways to connect, inspire and help others across their teams and across the globe.
