The Observatory at Electric Forest

Finalist 2019
The Observatory at Electric Forest

Electric Forest opens for a single week every year, catering primarily to Jam Band and Electronic music genres. The Observatory is a festival stage and environment set among the mystical Sherwood Forest within the festival grounds; the forest is hundreds of 70-foot-tall white pine trees planted in 1955. As attendees walk through the forest, they see elements of the festival that Madison House and Insomniac have cultivated over the years, including a psychedelic interactive maze, a swan fountain and even a wedding chapel.

Twitch Headquarters

Finalist 2019
Twitch Headquarters

Twitch is a unique and engaging brand that required a smart, highly customized design for their headquarter’s signage and wayfinding system. The ultimate solution utilized Twitch’s platform rewards system (gems) as a design element for room blades, demarking the size of each meeting room with different “gem” types. Additionally, playful gaming inspired graphics were applied to the floors of the servery and dining areas to aide in queuing and wayfinding at the various food stations.

Keysborough Wetlands

Finalist 2019
Keysborough Wetlands

The Keysborough Wetlands is a unique wetland sanctuary built into the heart of a residential development, providing an important habitat for many birds, fish and turtles, and a place where people connect with nature. While the wetlands sanctuary is cherished, feeding the birds, fish and turtles was causing a significant detrimental affect on the health of the wetlands ecosystem and existing signage was not solving the problem.

Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute Office

This project started with the notion of the Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute as the collectors and distributors of knowledge related to African ancestry in Nova Scotia. Ghanaian Adinkra symbols are essential in that culture to express ideas. From architecture to signage, from material to finish, the Adinkra woodcuts—used to print on storytelling cloth—informed the architectural and placemaking work.
