 Maryland University Signage

Cloud Gehshan Associates (Philadelphia) announced that wayfinding and gateway signage has been installed at Notre Dame of
Maryland University in North Baltimore; the new system welcomes and
directs visitors throughout the beautiful 58-acre campus. CGA selected earth
tones to complement the bucolic landscape and brick architecture. Hand-made ornamental forms and cast bronze crests were also integrated to reflect the university's 100 years of history and its new grand entrance, designed by Robert
AM Stern Architects.

University of Texas at Austin Wayfinding

Signing the “Model Village”

A new wayfinding program helps the University of Texas regain its sense of place and open its arms to the Austin community.

“The finest university campuses in the world have always been places—model villages, to borrow Thomas Jefferson’s notion—where communal cohesion and strength are derived as much from the physical experience as from      any philosophy or values that may be espoused.”

--Robert Berdahl, former president of the University of Texas at Austin

The design team conducted planning workshops from which several major themes emerged, including botany, history, and conservation. The resulting comprehensive signage and interpretive system includes 40 interpretive panels of different sizes. The panels are layered with headlines, messages, photos, and playful illustrations.
