2025 SEGD Chapter Successes: Celebrating Community, Connection, and Impact

Community is the cornerstone of SEGD. While it is inspiring to see professionals from across the nation come together at our major events, it is our Chapters—our local, grassroots hubs—that sustain connection all year long. Through meet-ups, tours, workshops, panels, and educational programs, SEGD Chapters bring experiential designers together to learn, collaborate, and strengthen the fabric of our community.

In 2025, our Chapters demonstrated remarkable energy and leadership, delivering 100 events across the globe and welcoming new volunteer leaders committed to advancing the field. Here’s a look at the year’s standout achievements, milestones, and moments of impact.

A Glimpse at the 2025 Chapter Events

Washington, D.C. — TalkShop: Whisper + Shout and Danger + Safety Events

Held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, this program drew designers and non-design professionals alike. The event brought together experts to explore how language, interpretation, and safety intersect in EGD—a powerful example of design’s role in shaping public understanding. The attendees were given a chance to break out into workshops to compare and contrast the focus words for each evening session.

Cincinnati & Boston — Breaking Barriers to Accessible Design Webinars

Chapters collaborated to deliver content-rich virtual sessions focused on accessibility, tactile communication, and inclusive wayfinding—continuing SEGD’s commitment to educational excellence. Representatives from the SEGD Accessible Design Task Force are spreading the word and educating the community on the new 2025 ICC A117.1 Standards.
