BE Prepared—Vegas is Calling!
Read Time: 4 minutes
In one week, 2019 SEGD Branded Environmentswill kick off in Las Vegas. (It’s time to jump for joy!)
From the compelling line-up of speakersand various intriguing branding talks to valuable networking opportunities and access to the DSE show floor, there are so many reasons you should make sure you’re at this year’s event.
However, experiencing the sights and sounds of Las Vegas elevate this event to a first-rate branded experience. Seeing all of this in action within the wonderland that is Las Vegas, how can you not be totally enthralled by it? Between the flashing neon and the latest in entertainment, Vegas is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what a branded environment is and should be; adding to what is already going to BE an amazing week.
Here are just a few of Las Vegas’ best attractions you won’t want to miss—you know, to really get the full experience in the “Entertainment Capital of the World.”
The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada” sign
This neon classic is probably the city’s most familiar feature. This timeless sign, designed by Betty Willis, has welcomed visitors at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard since 1959. It’s absolutely a must-see showstopper and an iconic piece of the city’s brand. (If you don’t take a picture with the sign, were you actually even there?)
The Park
This recent addition to the Las Vegas strip is a $100 million urban oasis that runs from Las Vegas Boulevard to T-Mobile Arena. The brick walkway takes you past numerous open-air restaurants, a water feature and more; but you’ll find us at the BeerHaus, enjoying drinks in a rustic environment with great company.
The Fountains of Bellagio
These mesmerizing dancing fountains are a popular sight to behold in front of the famous Bellagio Las Vegas hotel. The attraction features more than 1,000 fountains shoot water hundreds of feet into the air accompanied by music. Get your groove on and watch some water fly.
Fremont Street Experience
This massive, five-block experience is located at the center of downtown Las Vegas. It features the world’s largest slot machine, a zombie-themed maze, and live music every night! Oh, and of course we can’t forget to mention Viva Vision, a 1,500-foot-long video screen with 12.5 million LED lights and a booming sound system. (Talk about sensory overload!)
The Neon Museum
The Neon Museum brings to light the one thing that Vegas is most known for most (besides gambling) and that’s neon signs! Take an hour-long tour of the more than 200 neon signs sitting in a lot called the “Boneyard.” There are signs dating all the way back to the 1960s. To add to the wonderment, in February of 2018, the museum opened an augmented reality experience that blends high-tech projectors and music from the 1960s to create a stunning reanimation of many other iconic signs. (It’s already brightening your day just thinking out it!)
But, most importantly, Branded Environments/ DSE at the Las Vegas Convention Center!
Despite all there is to see in the fabulous city of Las Vegas, attendees come to take part in the event that offers them a space to listen to and engage in industry-leading talks, network with peers in roundtable discussions and experience awe-inspiring technology via the Digital Signage Expo—held in conjunction with BE. But don’t just take our word for it! See what our speakers and attendees have to say about what they’re looking forward to most about this year’s SEGD Branded Environments/DSE event.
“As a Design Principal at Perkins+Will and Southwest Discipline Leader for our Branded Environments Team in Atlanta, I am most interested in hearing from the various industry leaders regarding exploring new ways to connect to their client’s audiences in meaningful, interesting and innovative ways—ways that go beyond traditional communications and digital applications, and instead, provide physical places and spaces where users can manifest emotional participation within.”
—Keith Curtis, Principal, Perkins+Will
“This will be mine and my business partner’s third year in a row at Branded Environments—that should say it all. The most compelling part of the conference (besides learning about new technology) is making connections and sharing insights with like-minded designers from across the country.”
—Jill Spaeth, Partner and Business Lead, Spaeth Hill
“Between DSE and SEGD, we have a ton of friends, which, unfortunately, we don’t get to see too often. With all of us converging in Las Vegas for a few days, it’s a great opportunity to catch up, share new memories and plan some exciting ways we can all work together in crafting unique digital experiences that help augment the physical environment.”
—Bryan Meszaros, CEO & Founder, OpenEye Global; SEGD President
