For more than 50 years, SEGD has been shaped by people who believe that advancing our profession is a shared responsibility.
Friends of SEGD recognizes the design firms and individuals who make a sustained investment in the future of our discipline, providing critical support beyond membership that allows SEGD to pursue its mission and serve the broader experience design community.
Their generosity helps SEGD expand design education and outreach, create pathways for students and emerging professionals, advance continued professional development, champion design excellence, support research and advocacy, and develop the programs and resources our community needs to thrive.
The Impact of Our Friends
SEGD operates with a lean staff and limited resources, yet continues to deliver a level of programming, visibility, and influence comparable to design organizations many times our size.
That is possible because SEGD has always been a community-powered organization. Our volunteers contribute extraordinary expertise and time, while our sponsors, partners, and Friends provide the financial support that allows ideas to become programs and programs to grow.
With their support, SEGD continues to:
- Invest in the next generation, through student outreach, Emerging Experience Professionals (EXP) programming, mentorship, and opportunities to connect emerging talent with established practitioners.
- Advance continued professional development, including the launch of SEGD’s first certificate programs and new research into employment and compensation across the profession.
- Connect our community around professional practice, through Professional Practice Groups that bring designers together with collaborators, clients, and experts to advance programming, research, resources, and evolving standards.
- Champion design excellence, including the SEGD Global Design Awards and Achievement Awards, both approaching their 40th anniversaries in 2027.
- Advance sustainability within our discipline, through initiatives including the Life-Centered Design Award and Sustainability Impact Recognitions.
- Advocate for the value and integrity of experience design, representing the collective voice of our community within the broader design profession and the public realm.
