Heart of Iceland

Thingvellir is a natural wonder, situated on the tectonic plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. It is the place where Iceland became a commonwealth when the parliament was established there in 930 CE, and the park has for centuries had a unique place in the heart of every Icelander. At Þingvellir‘s visitor’s center, Hakið, visitors are invited on a journey through history and through Thingvellir National Park’s nature.

The stunning new Calgary Central Library in rapidly developing Calgary, Alberta, is an inspiring vision of what a public space can be. The landmark transforms the streetscape, creating connections in a transitional area of the city by joining Calgary’s downtown with its East Village. Designed by Snøhetta and DIALOG, the building welcomes, reflects and engages with its community, proving that that in a digital age, public libraries are more important than ever before.

In one of the most daring and avant-garde moves in the hotel industry to date, the $40 million Jackalope Hotel was launched in April 2017 in the heart of Australia’s Mornington Peninsula wine region. On an 11-hectare site spanning the Willow Creek vineyard, Jackalope consists of: forty-six guest rooms and suites; destination dining restaurant Doot Doot Doot; meeting and event spaces Jenka and Jackyak; and the surreal and eclectic Flaggerdoot, the hotel’s signature wine and cocktail bar.

Lenses on the Sky

Lenses on the Sky is a large-scale environmental installation permanently residing outside of OMSI’s newly redesigned Planetarium. This interactive installation pairs the study of space science with cultural stories from across the globe and investigates how humans across time have interpreted the stars and imagined the exploration of new frontiers.

The University of the Arts London team realized that temporary workspace culture is a fast-emerging market in the 21st Century and part of the growth of that trend has been driven by a desire to support creative entrepreneurialism in high-rent cities and temporary architecture to act as a platform for creative experimentation. Design-led furniture companies have targeted this trend with ready-to-buy furniture that is sustainable and reusable for temporary spaces.

For this industrial building, located next to a residential area, the only division is a public road. The City of Mannheim asked büro uebele visuelle kommunikation to improve this situation.There was a problem concerning the commercialization of this public space with industry taking over parts of the city, which led to conflict. Fortunately, the urban planning authorities intervened and büro uebele visuelle kommunikation could help resolve this conflict by means of a simple wall graphic.

SaRang Global Mission Center Clock Tower

The SaRang Global Mission Center was established as a place for the large community of SaRang Church to gather for weekly services, while reinforcing the church’s vision (to send missionaries all over the world) and mission (to reach out to the surrounding local community). Along with the construction of the new building, there were plans to erect a more traditional bell and clock tower on the campus.
