Lorenc+Yoo Design (Roswell, Ga.) announced it will design the exhibits for the new Delta Flight Museum, opening at Delta Airlines’ headquarters in Atlanta in summer 2014. The $6 million renovation will refurbish the 1940s-era airplane hanger in which the museum is currently housed. It will continue to feature airplanes from Delta’s history, including single-engine propeller planes from Delta’s early days and the “Spirit of Delta,” a Boeing 767 jumbo jet purchased in the 1980s by Delta employees.

Donut King

Honor Award
Donut King, Lorenc Design

To market Donut King to investors, its founder and Lorenc Design incorporated the new prototype design of this store into the marketing package. The ceiling, menu board, posters, floor and layout establish brand identity for each new shop, and are accompanied by such motifs as the donut-shaped chairs and small tables adorned with daily fresh flowers. The yellow-striped canopy above the serving area would reference the early morning sun. Everything else builds on this upbeat feeling.

Birmingham Flight Sequence

Merit Award
Birmingham Flight Sequence, City of Birmingham, Lorenc/Yoo Design

The Birmingham Flight Sequence is a half mile sequence of flight integrated into the landscape design to form a unified seamless progression. As part of a major facility improvement at Birmingham Airport, the City of Birmingham recognized the need to improve the approach to the airport to improve the city's image. The original approach consisted of broken sidewalk, tattered chainlink fence and rental car lots that stretched the entire length of airport highway.

Zamias Services is an owner and developer of secondary market centers throughout the United States. The exhibit design is inspired by an agora – a Greek marketplace – presenting Zamias Services as a company firmly grounded in tradition with its eye squarely focused on the future. This "modern-classic" theme gives visitors the impression of walking through a marketplace, surrounded by display windows filled with items for sale, while a graphic wall frieze tells the company's story.
