Read Time: 1.5 minutes

When work for Ink Lounge (Denver) owner, artist and screen printer Stuart Alden dried up due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, he reached out to artists in a similar situation to participate in an online art exhibit, each creating a work inspired by their time at home. The result is Home.Hope!, an online exhibit running through May 29, 2020. The show features 25 artists, with images screen printed by Ink Lounge and print sales directly supporting the artists and Access Gallery, a Denver nonprofit.

In the time of COVID-19, we've had to make some adjustments to how our events take place, taking them online to deliver the same quality content and connectedness that SEGD and SEGD Denver are known for. Luckily, SEGD Fellow and former SEGD President Wayne Hunt graciously agreed to be our guinea pig for our first ever virtual event and boy was it a success. With over 50 participants from all over the country, we were able to engage in a dynamic conversation about design, art, teaching and experiential graphic design. We can't wait for our next virtual event - stay tuned!

Speed Networking: Connections and Fun

Speed Networking: Connections and Fun

The Denver chapter of SEGD recently hosted a fun speed networking event with students from Denver's Auraria Higher Education Campus and its three universities; MSU Denver, CU Denver and Community College of Denver.

With professionals from ArtHouse Design, Interior Architects, Boyd Sign Systems, Archetype, Page/, Nine Dot Arts and more, the students were able to ask their burning questions in five minute bursts. Everyone had a blast looking at the students' portfolios, discussing different types of design careers and getting to know each other.

Tryba Architects Leads SEGD Denver on Tour of History Colorado Museum

We had a blast at our last event of 2019 and are gearing up for some amazing experiences in 2020. Our tour of History Colorado and the exhibit Zoom In: The Centennial State in 100 Objects lead by Tryba Architects was fascinating. Our chapter was fortunate enough to get a peek at the collections storage, as well as hear about the design of the building, how objects are collected, stored and archived and how that all translated into the exhibit. It was amazing to see 13,000 years of human history in what is now considered Colorado represented in 100 objects.

SEGD Denver Golden Hour Tour of Denver Botanic Gardens

SEGD Denver Golden Hour Tour of Denver Botanic Gardens

SEGD Denver hosted a late-summer tour of the Denver Botanic Gardens with iZone imaging on a beautiful, golden hour evening recently. Our friends at the Denver Botanic Gardens guided us through the lush foliage to learn about what goes into making such a unique place. The tour guides discussed approaches to signage, wayfinding, public art, horticulture and Colorado's climate that go into the placemaking efforts that take place at the gardens throughout the year.
