Here Together, We Are Home

A public art commission collaboration, aimed to elevate the status of a disadvantaged community, has created an iconic entry for the city of Clarence Plains using the powerful words; “Here, Together, Welcome, Home.”

Commissioned by the ‘One Community Together’ change project, this project aims to create entry signage that welcomes people to ‘Clarence Plains’. Community members had identified that to reduce the stigma of this disadvantaged community, there needed to be greater respect for place.

Scarborough Beach

The reimagined Scarborough Beach development invigorates a popular gathering space for locals and tourists that hosts an amphitheater, swimming pool, surf club, skate park, children's playground and transport hub. The redevelopment created the opportunity for a new user-led wayfinding solution, reshaping Scarborough’s traffic flow by encouraging cars to divert away from its traditional access point, Scarborough Beach Road. Pedestrians, rather than vehicles, are prompted to use this thoroughfare and interact with the space.

Sydney studio BrandCulture has published a series of articles explaining how COVID-19 will impact the design of built environments from hospitality and education to healthcare and public spaces. Here are a few of its key observation-based predictions, broken down by sector:

Make Some Room – Unconscious Bias Workshop

Despite a growing movement for corporate diversity and bias trainings, many employees still experience the dehumanizing and daily impacts of bias and discrimination. We’ve become more informed, but not necessarily transformed.

As experience designers, the team believed that addressing bias in our own workplaces and culture required a new approach—to shift these trainings from intellectual understanding to emotional awakening. Make Some Room is an immersive workshop that marries storytelling and space to change hearts, not just minds.
