Lisbon’s new Orient Museum opened in 2008 in a former warehouse. P-06 Atelier developed the museum’s corporate identity, communication display system, and wayfinding system and supports, in addition to a chromatic study of the building, the opening campaign (press, TV, and outdoors), and all communication products including books, tickets, and merchandising.
On September 13, 2008, Sagmeister Inc. began the installation of a mural on Waagdragerhof Square in Amsterdam. Over the course of eight days and with the help of more than 100 volunteers, 250,000 euro-cent coins were sorted into four different shades and carefully placed over this 300-sq.-meter area to spell out the sentence:
“Obsessions make my life worse and my work better.”
After completion, the coins were left free and unguarded for the public to interact with.
The Arriscar o Real (Risking Reality) exhibition at the Berardo Collection Museum in Lisbon focuses on various artists who have explored the mimesis (imitation) of reality and transformed this question into a paradox. Divided into three sections with corresponding spaces, the exhibition explores the meaning of the real and figurative in space. Rather than relying solely on an interpretive approach, R2 Design used three-dimensional typography to intervene directly in the 3,000-sq.-meter space.
