Rachel (Fujita) Esteffe is a LA based graphic designer, photographer and educator specializing in Experiential Design. She has been blending varying forms of storytelling, design strategies, interactive technologies, UI and UX methodologies for over a decade. Rachel holds a MFA in Computer Art (Motion + Interaction) from SVA and a BA in Visual Arts (Film, video, photography) from Fordham University. She also served as Creative Director of her former collaborative design studios, hyaline and FM Collaborative.
As an educator of eight years, Rachel developed one of the first Experiential Graphic Design curriculum in the US while working as an Assistant Professor at University of Idaho’s College of Art & Architecture. As a member of SEGD, she serves on the Academic Taskforce and was responsible for creating the Experiential Graphic Design Core Competencies for SEGD in Summer 2015—based on her curriculum development, student work and academic research towards Experiential Graphic Design while at the University of Idaho.
Her work has been exhibited nationally in both invitational and juried exhibitions, and she has presented her Experiential Design curriculum and research at several conferences including the 2015 IxDA Education Summit, 2014 SEGD Academic Summit, and the 2013 SLSA Annual Conference. She has also been a member of AIGA since 2007.
Rachel is currently an adjunct faculty at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA where she teaches Typography II and Type 5 (Transmedia) in the Graphic Design department.
