Peter Soland, Urban Designer at civiliti in Montreal, Canada
Peter has a solid reputation in Quebec's urban planning community. With over 20 years of experience, he is recognized as an accomplished designer. His work shows an analytical sense coupled with a strong urban and landscape sensibility. His greatest pleasure is to succeed in demonstrating the relevance of a concept of public space, arguing with the help of an iconography and clear ideas how a specific and contemporary project can integrate intelligently into the existing environment, while supporting the creation of new meaning and bringing the design work into the future.
Peter Soland also has extensive experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and is a skilled advisor in the communication skills required to lead large urban design projects. As project manager, Peter Soland leads his projects to a sensible and intelligent conclusion according to a methodology drawn and maintained with rigor. He assumes the responsibilities of management and design with methodology.
Peter Soland is a member of the Quebec Order of Architects (OAQ), the Quebec Association of Landscape Architects (AAPQ) and the Quebec Urban Design Association (ADUQ). He is also a LEED Environmental Associate.
civiliti is a Montréal firm specialized in the production of urban landscapes with a high public content. Since its foundation in 2001, the firm has concentrated its practice on landscapes that underscore the specific identities of the city. With the strong belief that public space is a primary manifestation of a sense of collectivity, civiliti considers that the shape we give our public spaces shapes as well the idea of community and inscribes it physically in the landscape. Hence, civiliti pursues a well-established contemporary practice, focused on the thinking and building of public space in its most widely accepted meaning.
Peter Soland earned his Master of Design in Environmental Design, Urban Planning from the Yale School of Architecture and his Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) from the University of Montreal.
