The 2024 Academic Summit is One Week Away!
The 2024 SEGD Academic Summit is one week away! The free event is open to all professionals, educators and students interested in learning more about trends in experiential design education research, projects and curriculum innovation. Register today for this free, virtual two-day event on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 12:30 – 5:00 pm ET. The 2024 SEGD Academic Summit is presented by SignAgent.
This year’s Summit promises to be an inspiring event that advances the field of experiential design through research, innovative practices, and inclusive dialogue. By bringing together unique voices and fostering in-depth discussions, the Summit continues to support the professional development and education of designers, students and educators worldwide.
Explore the future of design and its potential to shape our environments and experiences by participating in our interactive Breakout Sessions for the last hour of each day. All registered attendees are invited to choose between two topics, coming together for a lively exchange of ideas that will contribute to the ongoing evolution of the experiential design field. Moderated by experiential design educators and professionals, this virtual format allows attendees to select their preferred topic at the beginning of the breakout sessions, ensuring a tailored and engaging experience.
Day 1 Breakout Sessions
- Designing Multi-Sensory Experiences and Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Critical Perspectives: Design Criticism, Writing, Research Methods, and Ethics
Day 2 Breakout Sessions
- Effective Academic Communication: Design Abstracts, Paper Writing, and Grant Proposals
- Fostering Leadership and Mentorship: Engaging in Student Activities and Extracurricular Involvement
The scope of research and innovation discussed at the Summit includes branded environments, digital experiences, exhibitions, placemaking, public installations, strategic research, planning, and wayfinding. Selected through a blind peer review of abstracts, our speakers will individually present their findings and then join fellow presenters in a moderated panel discussion on their topic. Following this live event, authors will develop these presentations into full-manuscripts to be published in SEGD Communication + Place, a peer-reviewed digital journal supporting professional development and education in experiential design.
