Case Study in Storytelling Environments: The New 81’st Street Studio at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY

Heidi Holder, The Frederick P. and Sandra P. Rose Chair of Education at the MET, NYC, Heidi is the concept lead for the 81st Street Studio, the Met new children’s space. Her work in museum interpretation investigates the role of language justice, and interactive maker-spaces in promoting equity in museum settings and explores ways for communities to connect to art in ways other than talking and looking. Her work on the MET’s new 81’st Street Studio has been featured recently in the New York Time’s, NPR, and Fast Company. Holder holds a doctorate in Urban Education from the Graduate School and University Center, CUNY.

Kim Gim, Creative Director, Bluecadet. Kim strives to create meaningful experiences that evoke emotional responses through digital interventions. Her work, which aims to transform social and cultural institutions, has been featured in the New York Times and Fast Company and was recognized with awards from Core77, IxDA, and OneClub working with institutions such as the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, Museum of City of New York, and IBM.

Marta Ordeig Bofías, CEO of Garage Stories. Entrepreneur and storyteller, Marta founded Garage Stories in 2017 in Silicon Valley: a traveling lab uniting global creatives and technologists to innovate using emerging media for positive impact. Collaborating with companies and institutions, she envisions futures aligned with SDGs, harnessing VR/AR/AI to launch startups achieving those goals. Garage Stories has partnered with notable institutions in cities like Barcelona and San Francisco. Several projects were showcased at TEDx.

Robin White Owen, Co-Founder, President and XR Consultant of MediaCombo. Robin has pioneered AR and VR interactive storytelling. She offers strategic insights focusing on virtual cultural experiences. An esteemed speaker, she’s presented at Immersive Global Summits, Augmented World Expos. Robin’s noteworthy productions include an AR audio tour for Morgan Library and an award-winning VR experience for Pollock-Krasner House. Currently, she’s advancing a VR platform for interpersonal skills and immersive art experiences, collaborating with Watershed.

Melvin Wilson, Founder, Solve Innovation Group. Melvin, founder of Solve Innovation Group, steers teams to foster startup growth, leveraging over two decades of tech-marketing expertise. Previously at IPG Media Lab, his strategic insights significantly boosted the firm’s revenue. He’s crafted creative strategies from partnering with DC Comics for toothpaste promotions to spearheading a TEDx in Harlem. His drive for diverse startup funding led to raising $6mm for positive business and social impacts. Melvin has worked with brands like Bank of America and Ford, serves on multiple boards, and is a sought-after speaker.
