Scott W. Briggs, AIA, NCARB, is Associate Principal at SKOLNICK Architecture + Design, New York, NY, where he brings three decades of project leadership and design experience to the firm. As Associate Principal and design lead, he drives the conception, visual representation, and realization of the firm’s cultural projects. His work is focused on the integration of architecture, exhibits and environments, interpretation, graphics, and media to create engaging visitor experiences. His background in the planning and design of cultural, civic, and hospitality facilities informs the development of his projects. As Project Manager, he is accountable for leading the overall project and consultant team, developing schedules, and managing budgets to ensure projects are completed to the highest possible standard. Scott has worked on many of SKOLNICK’s significant museum, library, and exhibition projects, including the Children’s Library Discovery Center at Queens Library, Jamaica, NY; Miami Children’s Museum, Miami, FL; Muhammad Ali Center, Louisville, KY; and Muzeiko, America for Bulgaria Children’s Museum, Sofia, Bulgaria. More recent projects have included the 9/11 Tribute Museum, New York; NYU Langone Medical Center Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, New York, NY; Royal Alberta Museum, Edmonton, Alberta; and the Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis, Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
The recipient of numerous design awards, Scott represents the firm at national conferences and writes about the firm’s projects for publication. He frequently serves as a visiting critic and presenter with several colleges and universities including SUNY/FIT, Bank Street College of Education, and Pratt Institute. Scott is an active member of the New York City chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) where he recently served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and is a member and former Co-Chair of the Cultural Facilities Committee.
