Karen Backe is an independent Environmental Graphic Designer joining forces with talented partners to help museums and businesses tell their stories and build their brands by designing memorable spaces, exhibits, interpretive signage, event collateral, and wayfinding. Her innate understanding of how people use and move in spaces, and — with an eye on beautiful aesthetics — that ultimately the goal of design is communicating clearly and with intent make her a powerful asset to projects.
In 2018 founded marketing design company "Constructive Design” offering different types of design solutions to improve the company's image.
Steps leading to opening “Constructive Design” began as a student taking part in the student innovation platform Demola. Where I had my first experience with wayfinding design challenges. I offered an idea about an interactive personal map machine. It included personal wayfinding maps and other guiding systems for airport services in Riga International Airport. The proposed solution got the second stage of innovations of that year.

With the smell of sawn wood in the air, fresh joint compound on the drywall and the feel of a framing hammer in his hand Ronnie Mesa grew up on the job site of his father’s custom home construction business. There he learned from that master carpenter the patience of the build, the vision of the end product and the foresight of next steps. He was taught the strength of structure, the economy and use of space and the appreciation for the final form.
