The National Museum of African American History and Culture’s goal with the “Segregated Lunch Counter” interactive was to teach visitors about the methods and organizational approaches used by activists for protests during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. The concept for the interactive and panorama film were initially designed by Ralph Appelbaum Associates and the Museum curatorial and design team as part of the exhibit design phase, but the interactive design and content was produced and deployed by Cortina Productions.
The 85,000 square feet of inaugural exhibitions for the National Museum of African American History and Culture take visitors on a journey that is rooted in history, embraces community, and celebrates culture.
Pioneer Square is home to stark contrasts. Art galleries, boutique restaurants, high-end housing and blossoming tech startups within historic buildings are contrasted by homelessness, development limitations, a hub of mental health facilities and lack of urban-enhancing amenities.
Forage is date night crafted. Forage elevates the date night experience by using augmented reality to lead the users on a scavenger hunt for ingredients to a special meal in various neighborhoods of their city, leading to a final recipe reveal. The objective was to use augmented reality as a wayfinding solution and feature, to create a viable app prototype with broad market appeal. Forage is a romantic, interactive hunt for foodies. This application was designed for the user to maintain control over the experience.
Focusing on the many layers of “connection” our minds make on a daily basis, the Allen Institute for Brain Science’s environmental graphics program reflects the organization’s collaborative approach to neuro-research. The cornerstone of the graphics program is "Pathways", a 150-foot light box with color changing LEDs and printed graphic panels displayed on the building exterior. It is a public art installation that visually interprets different ways in which neural pathways connect– a theme that recurs throughout the entire graphics program.
Bloomberg is upgrading many of it global offices to the perfect intersection between the Bloomberg brand and the specific location—including the architecture of the space, the journalistic activities happening there and then the backdrop of the location.
