Solid Light working on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Experience

Solid Light (Louisville, Ky.) is working on Louisville’s first-ever entry to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail: the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, set to open on Louisville’s historical Main Street cultural district this fall. The experience will take visitors to the heart of the city in 1797, when Evan Williams founded the nation’s first commercial bourbon distillery.

New World of Coca-Cola

A Coke and a Smile

Museum, cultural touchstone, or marketing tool for the world’s No. 1 brand? With the help of iconic graphics, the New World of Coca Cola manages to be all three.

Andy Warhol may have said it best when he described the universal appeal of Coca Cola. “…A Coke is a Coke and no amount of money can get you a better Coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the Cokes are the same and all the Cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it.”

Jack Daniels Visitor Experience

Jack Daniels Visitor Experience, HOK Studio E

The Jack Daniels Distillery is internationally known and described through its advertising, which depicts a bucolic hollow and an immutable, rural, picturesque community. The design challenge was to fit a new visitor center into the sylvan hollow and to create a facility that felt like it "has always been there." The center contains pre-tour and post-tour facilities, a theater, a historic bar, a retail area, and special facilities for conferences.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center, Olson Kundig Architects, Studio Matthews

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center exhibition explains how and why the foundation was founded, and describes its work around the globe. Perhaps most importantly, it creates a personal relationship with the visitor, inviting them into a conversation about global issues, prompting questions and providing activities for them to explore how every individual can make a positive difference.

Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion

From the SEGD Archives, circa 2012: San Francisco’s most famous landmark turned 75 in 2011 and in honor of the occasion, as well as anticipation of the rush of visitors it would inspire, the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District (the bridge operator) partnered with the Golden Gate Bridge National Parks Conservancy to rethink the entire visitor experience.
