Docks en Seine

Merit Award
Docks en Seine, Icade, Nicolas Vrignaud

Docks en Seine is a new fashion and design-focused development on the Left Bank, part of ongoing urban renewal efforts in Paris’ 13th arrondissement. Architects Jakob + MacFarlane (Paris) designed an arresting green metal pipe structure that envelops an existing 1907 concrete warehouse. The warehouse serves as the project’s circulation, linking various spaces such as a fashion school, cafes, restaurants, and a bookstore.

Chanel Media Installation

Jury Award
Chanel Media Installation, Chanel, Apologue

Inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s new urban architecture and graffiti campaign, expressed in his downtown New York photographs, Chanel’s new SoHo store was wrapped with a “Wall of Light” as part of a three-day celebration of the city and the launch of the new Chanel store design in New York City.

Apologue (Los Angeles) designed a porous 140-ft.-wide by 10-ft.-high, L-shaped LED canvas and hired United Visual Artists (London) to collaborate on developing generative animations for Lagerfeld’s urban photography.

Steve Reinisch

You design. I detail.

You get to do what you like to do
and I, with you, get to do what I like to do.
You get to design, I get to detail.

And in the era of mission statements,
mine (in eight words!) is this:

Preserving and honoring your design
through articulate documentation.

The purpose of my work is for you to have the results you seek.

This translates to the detailing and documentation/ packaging of your work for fabrication/ installation that will free you to focus on doing what you enjoy doing - design.

Really.

Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion

From the SEGD Archives, circa 2012: San Francisco’s most famous landmark turned 75 in 2011 and in honor of the occasion, as well as anticipation of the rush of visitors it would inspire, the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District (the bridge operator) partnered with the Golden Gate Bridge National Parks Conservancy to rethink the entire visitor experience.
