For their new tech hub in San Francisco, Bloomberg wanted to create a space that embodied their status as an established and innovative technology company. There would be no ping-pong tables, silkscreened inspirational posters or playroom-inspired spaces. Bloomberg is not a start-up, but a mature leader in the technology space. The Tech Hub is a laboratory of science and art. Its occupants take financial data and create new uses and applications for it.
Despite its (partly-justified) reputation as a commerce-driven city with a dearth of art and culture, the evolution of Dubai's socioeconomic landscape in recent years has given rise to a new demand for cultural spaces, in particular local galleries and contemporary art studios. Al Quoz district, once a bland industrial quarter on the fringes of the city, has been the unlikely epicenter of this awakening, with a vibrant art and design community sprouting up between the extant manufacturing estates.
At a museum dedicated to the wrath of a 1973 volcano, interactive experiences help visitors explore the site and make peace with the worst natural disaster in Iceland’s history. The project was an Honor winner in the 2015 SEGD Global Design Awards.
For Elevate 2014, an annual pop-up festival sponsored by the city of Atlanta, the Goat Farm Arts Center, a “creative industrial complex” that produces vanguard arts programming, conceived the D_MPSTERS program. They acquired 10 large roll-a-way trash containers, parked them on underused downtown streets, and curated a weeklong exhibition within them. Second Story, part of SapientNitro, was responsible for activating one of the dumpsters based on Elevate’s central theme: Social City.
TING: Technology & Democracy was designed to explore the complex relationship between specific technologies—historic and emerging—and the development of democratic societies. Museum curators at the Norsk Teknisk Museum posed the question, “Is any given technology good, bad, or neutral in the development of democracy?”

The Eldheimar Volcano Museum is dedicated to one of Iceland’s biggest natural disasters: the Heimaey eruption of 1973. Interactive experiences designed by Gagarin encourage visitors to be "protagonist explorers" rather than passive consumers of information.
A Pentagram team led by Eddie Opara was tasked with creating event graphics, wayfinding, and a digital experience for Platform Summit 2014, a conference of the non-profit organization promoting minority participation in technology and entrepreneurship.
The epic digital landscape at LAX’s new Tom Bradley International Terminal took top honors in the 2014 SEGD Global Design Awards. Art deco curtains part to reveal gold-toned dancers spinning inside a multi-tiered clock-like confection. Three-story-tall guitar strings quiver and plunk to the movements of passersby.
