SEGD has been working on a continuous cycle of improvements to its programs and content to ensure that it remains relevant and becomes more vital for members. How satisfied are members with the changes? Did the organization get a thumbs up or down for the on-going improvements? How has SEGD's membership changed over the past five years?
In 2018, Daktronics extended their partnership with SEGD, which began in 2006. SEGD represents an outstanding community of creative individuals who are committed to quality and believe in connecting people to places by creating environments that improve the human experience—qualities that strongly align with Daktronics mission.
2017 was another strong year for SEGD and the ongoing development of the association, the fifth in a row, in fact. As we say "thank you and farewell" to John Lutz after his two-year term as SEGD President ends and say "hello" to Bryan Meszaros as he starts his two-year term, it is worth reflecting on the journey we have been on the past five years, and, where we are going from here.
East meets West—again! On his recent trip to Beijing, David Vanden Eynden of CVEDesign reconnected with Linda Bai; they originally met at a meetup for designers from Beijing and Nanjing, arranged by SEGD CEO Clive Roux. Linda Bai’s firm Only Design specializes in branding, packaging and retail environments. CVEDesign is delighted to continue and strengthen their connections with colleagues in China and around the world.
We measure, constantly, how we are doing and discuss it at every board meeting. SEGD even has its own dashboard, customized to monitor the factors that are making the top-line results possible.
Some might even say we are quite fanatical about understanding the underlying drivers of our membership value creation and engagement with the community—and they would be right!
NEW YORK—SEGD’s Xlab returns this November to New York as the final event of New York Digital Signage Week. This year’s theme, “Experience Design in the Era of Disruption,” will showcase how disruption in all businesses and industry verticals is impacting experiential graphic design and the way people are using and interacting with places and spaces.
We live in a technologically driven society. Much of the value created in business today is underpinned by advances in technology: The economy is driven by increases in productivity and those productivity gains are driven by advances in technology. Unless you live in a cave, it is hard to escape the effects of technological advancement.
The 2017 SEGD Conference Experience Miami was a great event. It was well attended. And lots of fun, too! I'd like to extend a thank you to all who attended, sponsored, spoke and participated. There were so many highlights and moments of people enjoying themselves that we decided to create a photo gallery on the 2017 SEGD Conference Experience Miamipage. Enjoy!
When times are good and business is strong, it’s easy to put aside the need to think ahead. However, if you think about it, this is the perfect moment to stop and analyze what you are doing and where you want to go next.
For a week in February the SEGD community went OFF GRID in Australia and New Zealand. No one knew what to expect, but everyone came away with a really new and interesting take on the traditional conference asking when will it happen again?
