Frost* Design

Frost* Design (Sydney), working in conjunction with Neeson Murcutt Architects, designed new environmental graphics and signage for the Stanmore Public School library. They utilized a bright color palette, playful typography, and graphic elements to animate the spaces and provide hidden details.

Colorful identification signs and custom-printed recycled carpet tiles bring a sense of excitement to the library interior, while large-scale book quotes painted onto an external walkway animate the journey through the playground.

GKD - NBA’s Miami HEAT Group’s American Airlines Arena

GKD (Cambridge, Md.) created a marquee on the exterior of the NBA’s Miami HEAT Group’s American Airlines Arena. The franchise wanted something that would not only draw attention to the arena, but also help transform downtown Miami. Made from 3,400 square feet of high-grade architectural woven stainless steel mesh fabric with interwoven LED profiles, Miami’s Mediamesh® screen, patented by GKD and ag4, provides unobstructed viewing from the interior and visually engaging digital media content on the exterior.

Pentagram

Photograph of Olympic rings public installation

Pentagram (London) Partners Harry Pearce and Naresh Ramchandani collaborated with the artists Ackroyd & Harvey on an installation of rings suspended in trees at London’s Olympic Park at Stratford. Elegant and quietly powerful, the 10 rings––each 15 meters in diameter and forged of phosphored bronze and stainless steel––tell the story of the Olympic site over the past few centuries and will remain in place after the Games.

Stanley Beaman & Sears

Stanley Beaman & Sears (Atlanta) designed wayfinding signage for the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons. The wayfinding scheme borrows visual cues from airports and transit stations to direct students to science laboratories, technologically advanced classrooms, and student-centered academic services, using directional signage and floor plans that resemble transit maps.

Photograph of donor recognition program for Rodgers Health Center

Star Signs (Lawrence, Kan.) recently completed a unique donor recognition display for Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center in Kansas City, Mo. Star worked closely with Willoughby Design of Kansas City on the overall design, which indicated levels of giving via different sizes and colors of fabricated-aluminum birds. Donor names were etched and anodized into the wings of the birds. The anodized finish allowed the natural sheen of the metal to show through, giving the display a light and lustrous appearance.
