SEGD: Where clients find the brightest minds in experience design.

A letter to prospective clients—here’s how SEGD can help you meet the right designers and partners for your next project.

Dear potential clients,

I’m writing on behalf of SEGD, the global community of experiential design professionals. Every week, we see your Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) come through our members’ portal—nearly 200 this year alone.

As a group, you represent various businesses and organizations: convention centers, universities, cities, tourism boards, transit agencies, cultural organizations, and heritage sites.

The same goal unites all of you: finding designers who can bring clarity, creativity, and impact to your projects—and deliver a strong return on experience (ROE). When you post those RFPs, you hope the right team finds you.

But here’s the good news: you don’t have to wait and hope. You already have direct access to the SEGD membership. They’re here. They’re talented. They might be a little shy—except for the ones in the back jumping up and down, waving both arms, yelling “pick me!” (Yes, they’re also bidding the loudest at our Auction for Excellence. That tracks.)

Who are they? Let us brag for a second.

SEGD members design branded environments and wayfinding systems that help people move confidently. They also create exhibitions and placemaking experiences that tell stories and bring communities together. These designers have deep roots in graphic and signage design, know their way around branding, and are constantly experimenting with digital and interactive work. Many center their practice around sustainability and equitable design, treating these as core values rather than side projects.

They also work across every industry—education, corporate, museums, healthcare, entertainment, transportation, sports, civic spaces, and more. If you’ve walked through a campus, a gallery, an airport, or a stadium, chances are you’ve already experienced their work—you just didn’t know it.

And since many of you ask for it: yes, our members include certified companies—B Corp, DBE, MBE, WBE, SBE, HUB, SBA, Veteran Owned, and more. That means you’ll find firms ready to meet the requirements in your RFPs. Alongside them, you’ll find freelancers and sole proprietors who add flexibility, insight, and depth to project teams.

At their core, what ties all of them together is a commitment to experience design—not just how a space looks but also how it works, feels, and welcomes people in. Accessibility, ADA, universal design, and sustainability aren’t afterthoughts here. They’re baked into the way SEGD members think and practice.

You can, of course, browse our Expert Directory to find your perfect match. But honestly, the best way to do this is to join SEGD. You’ll get the whole Member Directory, and you’ll be able to learn alongside them through events, webinars, and Professional Practice Group meetings.

You can shape how people experience places, stories, and communities. With SEGD members as partners, that impact can be exponential.

And to the SEGD members reading this: we appreciate you and everything you bring. We see you, too.

With appreciation and in community,

—The SEGD Team
