Visit this modern architectural icon designed by French architect Jean Nouvel featuring exterior supergraphics and a super-cool interior signage and wayfinding program designed by local chapter member Michael Haug that compliments the modern spaces. Be sure to explore the cantilevered viewing platform overlooking the Mississippi River and the Stone Arch Bridge.

Mill City Museum
Once the heart of the flour industry, Mill City Museum tells the story of Minneapolis’s grain-processing past through the rebuilt ruins at this historic mill site. Stroll along the Mississippi River walking path to the next door Gold Medal Park and enjoy an Ice Cream Cone at Izzy’s!

U.S. Bank Stadium with Selbert Perkins Design and Infinite Scale
One of the newest football stadiums in the country that made its debut this year at the Super Bowl. Get the insider tour with the SEGD firms who were responsible for the signage, wayfinding and brand graphic programs at the stadium.

Nice Ride City Bike Experience with Richard Lang
Get ready for the most active tour in Minneapolis led by Visual Communication’s very own biking enthusiast Richard Lang. You can’t get any further away from a traditional conference tour than this 15 mile bike tour along the Mississippi River with stops including Minnehaha Falls and the Stone Arch Bridge! Easy riding bikes provided through Minneapolis’s Nice Ride bike share.

Take the LRT (that’s light rail in Minneapolis parlance) from the hotel with Minneapolis Chapter Co-Chair and brew enthusiast Jesse Yungner to one of MSP’s hippest local breweries, Surly Brewing Co. Home to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx basketball teams, the Target Center recently underwent significant renovations adding significant experiential installations and a new wayfinding program to this multipurpose arena. Learn how the design and build team from Dimensional Innovations brought storytelling features to this large scale sport and entertainment-centric environment.

Walker Sculpture Garden
The Walker Center’s Sculpture garden has recently reopened after renovations. Experience this incredible public space and the contemporary sculptures such as Claes Oldenburg’s Spoonbridge and Cherry that dot the outdoor landscape.
