Opulence: Immersive Art at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
Float4 recently reimagined the lobby of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas with Opulence, a stunning new addition to the hotel’s renowned Lobby Columns multimedia installation. This immersive visual art piece transports guests into a fantastical dreamscape where surreal characters come to life, suspended in a shimmering, otherworldly environment.
A Dreamlike Welcome to Las Vegas
Designed to capture the intangible feeling of stepping into The Cosmopolitan, Opulence invites guests to embrace a bolder, more uninhibited version of themselves—one that surfaces only on extraordinary occasions. The underwater theme serves as a visual metaphor for the brand, reflecting the hidden depths and unexpected pleasures that await discovery within the hotel’s walls.
The experience extends beyond the eight lobby columns, illuminating the 75-foot-wide registration display and the Beacon atop the hotel, lighting up the Las Vegas skyline with an unforgettable visual signature.
Storytelling Across a Three-Dimensional Canvas
Opulence transforms the lobby into a living artwork with over 350 high-resolution displays wrapping eight towering columns. Float4 crafted distinct yet synchronized storylines for each face of every column, weaving them into a seamless visual narrative that immerses guests from every angle.
Working across a massive 130-million-pixel canvas, the team combined cutting-edge technology and creative artistry to deliver an experience that feels alive, expansive, and unforgettable.
Bringing the Underwater World to Life
To create the surreal underwater world at the heart of Opulence, Float4 captured live-action performances beneath the surface. A synchronized swimmer, a yoga instructor, and professional dancers were filmed underwater to evoke a sense of freedom, fluidity, and emotional vulnerability rarely seen in large-scale digital installations.
Partnering with Montreal-based Aquamedias, experts in underwater live-action filmmaking, the team ensured a safe and supportive environment for performers while pushing the boundaries of creative expression.
A Collaborative Vision
More than 60 talented individuals contributed to the production of Opulence, ensuring that every element—from choreography to sound design—was thoughtfully executed to bring this dreamscape to life.
