2022 Global Design Awards: Jurors Announced

Read Time: 3 minutes

The SEGD Global Design Awards (GDA) represent the best in experiential graphic design and celebrate those designers and design firms whose work exemplifies the organization’s mission to “Educate, Connect and Inspire.” SEGD is proud to announce the jury members who will select the 2022 GDA winners.

Each year, SEGD recognizes the best-of-the-best in experiential design with the Global Design Awards. These projects span a wide range of topics, disciplines, and verticals, and  fall into the following categories:

  • Digital Experience Content
  • Exhibition
  • Interactive Experience
  • Placemaking & Identity
  • Strategy, Research, Planning
  • Wayfinding

But who actually decides which of the submitted projects merits a Global Design Award?

This year, a multi-disciplinary jury will evaluate projects based on their effectiveness in connecting people to place, creating unique and memorable user experiences while solving design challenges.

Chairing the jury will be Phillip R. Tiongson, a longstanding SEGD member and a 2021 SEGD GDA jury member. Tiongson is the Founder and CEO of Potion, an interactive design agency that creates transformative experiences through design and technology. Drawing on his training and passions as an artist, software engineer, and storyteller, Tiongson leads his studio in creating groundbreaking interactive experiences. Given his depth of experience, including his training under John Maeda at the prestigious MIT Media Lab, Tiongson is uniquely qualified to lead the Awards’ jury.

“Every year, the SEGD Global Design Awards recalibrate the standards of excellence for our industry,” explains Tiongson. “The winning projects exemplify how great design can powerfully serve communities with lasting impact.”

In addition to Tiongson, the 2022 SEGD Global Design Awards jury includes six other internationally acclaimed designers who will review and help select the Global Design Award winners in March 2022
