The Challenge

The Challenge was how to create a sense of company pride and joy in their workspaces for employees and visitors alike. We also needed to find a way to use Epson’s equipment and techniques to produce art that will represent their corporate core values. Due to the scale of the empty buildings, we needed to find the best locations that would have the greatest impact visually and aesthetically.

Project Vision

Image Options was invited to participate in an Epson Corporate Design request to transform their recent design/build office building into an engaging representation of all Epson printing output types throughout their Epson Campus. We introduced a vibrant color palette to echo the print color vibrancy achieved when using Epson products. The eight wall art activations with 3-d fabrications tell the thematic story of “Art is Life. Life is Art”. A variety of substrates were utilized to show the capability of Epson print technologies, create interest and, tell a complete story of Epson Technology. All of the art installations were printed and manufactured at our facility for project constancy and color control.

The use of light boxes enhances the color in the “X-ray Lightboxes” installation. The idea is to
connect the technology of robotics to our humanity.

Design + Execution

Image Option’s Creative Director, Cy Nakabayashi, walked the space and identified where art activations would have the most impact throughout the Epson Campus. We used a 360 camera to record the areas he identified and then utilized SplashView software to create a Design Deck that went into exploring concepts. The idea deck was presented to the Leadership team at Epson showing static representation and 360-degree views of how the art will look in place. We gained immediate approval to move into the next phase from thematic representation to creating the experiential activations. We also received approval to use Epson products throughout the project for print output. Thought was then given to a variety of substrates that show all facets of life where Epson products reside: Education, Healthcare, Entertainment, Consumer Brands, Athletics, Industrial Robotics, Professional Photography, and Experiential Event Projections. Image Options invited our creative partner, AHM Brands, to take the creative direction and implement eight art activations along with secondary photographic selections from the Epson Professional Photographers Library. A series of creative design intent decks were presented and shown, then approved by the Epson Leadership team to move into the production phase. Image Options’ project management team worked closely with AHM and our in-house fabrication teams to achieve the final installed project.
