The SEGD Insight Award recognizes visionary clients who demonstrate the transformative impact of experiential design by commissioning projects and initiatives that elevate practice and deepen opportunities for designers. Past recipients include The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

UCSF Signage Governance Committee

In 2025, SEGD is proud to honor the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Signage Governance Committee (SGC)—Joy Glasier, Natalia Gil, and Shawn Fleming—for their exceptional leadership in shaping a cohesive, intuitive, and human-centered wayfinding system across one of the world’s most complex academic medical and research institutions.

UCSF is dedicated to advancing health through research, education, and clinical care, with campuses, hospitals, and facilities distributed across San Francisco. The Signage Governance Committee was established to unify this multifaceted environment and ensure that signage standards remain clear, consistent, and centered on user needs. By streamlining stakeholder input and creating a centralized review process, the SGC has strengthened brand recognition, improved navigability, and reduced confusion for patients, visitors, caregivers, faculty, staff, and donors.

By collaborating closely with environmental graphic design experts, the committee maintains rigorous standards while allowing the system to adapt to growth, technological advancement, and evolving clinical environments.
