On the heels of a powerful, connective International Design Day, SEGD is using the month of May to celebrate its members and invite others into its multidisciplinary community. Because what connects great design isn’t just creativity and passion, it’s people.

Building off of the 2026 International Design Day theme, “The Spaces in Between,” this year’s Membership May campaign encourages designers to bridge those spaces—between ideas, disciplines, and each other. 

At its core, SEGD membership is about access, not just to resources, but to people and opportunities that shape your career. Conversations, shared experiences, and connections happen through local events hosted by our 33 SEGD Chapters, virtually with our monthly Professional Practice Group meetings, webinars, committee meetings and New Member Round Table, and nationally at bootcamps, conferences and our practice-focused events. SEGD creates space for designers to learn from one another, find their niche, and stay inspired in an ever-evolving industry.

It then moves into belonging, highlighting the importance of finding your community and supporting others within it. As the month progresses, the focus shifts toward growth, encouraging members to think about the next space they want to step into, whether that’s through new skills, new roles, or new perspectives. Finally, the conversation turns to the future—who you bring with you, and how you help open doors for the next generation of designers entering the field.

Membership May isn’t just about joining—it’s about participating. SEGD encourages members to share their stories, reflect on their experiences, and highlight what SEGD means to them. These shared perspectives help bring the community to life and make it easier for others to see where they fit.
