Celebrating the 2025 SEGD Student Scholarship Winner + FIT Capstone Cohort
The Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) is proud to announce the winner of the 2025 SEGD Student Scholarship, created in partnership with the Graduate Exhibition & Experience Design program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
Since 2018, this scholarship has recognized emerging designers who demonstrate curiosity, creativity, and a deep commitment to shaping meaningful experiences for the public. The award supports students during a pivotal moment in their graduate studies and reflects SEGD’s ongoing mission: to educate, connect, and inspire the next generation of experience designers.
This Year’s Competition
The 2025 Student Scholarship Competition invited FIT graduate students to participate in an SEGD Xlab–style workshop held during class on October 28, 2025. The session was led by SEGD’s CEO, Cybelle Jones, together with Matthias Brendler of TAD, one of the chairs of the 2025 SEGD Xlab Studio Sessions in NYC.
In this fast-paced, highly collaborative workshop, students were challenged to design an immersive theme park inspired by a classic or contemporary sitcom—from Gilligan’s Island to The Office, The Simpsons, Arrested Development, Futurama, and more.
But there was a twist.
Students were pushed outside their comfort zones, taking on roles not typically part of their day-to-day practice—crafting storylines, soundtracks, wearables, ride concepts, environments, merchandise, and character experiences. Many had never before experimented with AI tools such as Midjourney, ChatGPT, or Suno, yet they dove in enthusiastically, using them to generate bold, world-building ideas.
Working together in a single dynamic afternoon session, each group built out their concepts on collaborative Miro boards and pitched their final experience to the room. The energy was high, the ideas were wildly imaginative, and the timeframe was intentionally short—sparking creativity under pressure.
Congratulations to the 2025 SEGD Student Scholarship Winner – Marina Latto
We’d like to congratulate this year’s winner, Marina Latto, for their creative and artistic submission. Marina’s work exemplifies the curiosity, talent, and expressive power that define the future of experiential design. We can’t wait to see how their ideas continue to evolve as they enter the profession.
The winner will receive a $1,500 scholarship to support their continued growth as a designer.
