Meet our 2024 SEGD Xlab Chair!
Phillip Tiongson
Founder
Potion
Phillip R. Tiongson is a Filipino American designer and leading authority on interactive technology. Tiongson’s work explores the ever-evolving interplay between design, technology and human attention. In 2005, he founded Potion, an experiential agency that specializes in integrating physical space with digital technology. In every engagement, he seeks to design inclusive experiences that reflect an organization’s core values and culture. In 2024, Potion joined forces with Hyperquake, an independent strategy and design studio that builds ambitious brands and experiences with those eager to activate a vision. Tiongson currently serves on MIT’s Council for the Arts, a catalyst and funder for the development of a broadly based, highly participatory arts program and speaks about technology, design, and culture. Phillip’s projects have been honored by the American Alliance of Museums, the Association of Science and Technology Centers, SEGD, Fast Company, Communication Arts, SXSW, Core 77, and the Art Director’s Club. Phillip earned his MS from the MIT Media Lab and his MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University. Born and raised in rural Tennessee, he can’t believe that he lives with his wife and two kids in NYC.
