My name is Marina Kern.
I was born on June 5, 1983, in the small town of Bobruisk, Belarus. I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and Art Education from Vitebsk State University. After graduation, I moved to Saint-Petersburg, Russia, where I began my professional art practice. During that time, I also worked in the film industry as a costume designer, decorator, and assistant costume designer.

Since relocating to Vancouver, Canada, in July 2018, I have continued creating art in my home studio and offer private art lessons. Alongside painting, since 2021 I have been studying graphic design and working as a freelance graphic designer, photographer, and illustrator.

I have always had a deep passion for architecture and urban design and have been looking for ways to connect my creative practice with these disciplines. Today, I am exploring new career pathways in environmental design, wayfinding, and related fields—seeking opportunities where I can apply my artistic background and visual skills to design for public spaces and built environments.

I'm looking for

I am seeking educational opportunities, as well as connections with industry professionals, mentors, and educators, to help me discover and shape my own pathway in this field.

What I love about experience design

In graphic design, it is very important to me to serve people — to understand human psychology, behavior, and the specific needs of different groups, and to translate that understanding into the environment. I see design as an opportunity to help people, guide them, and plan spaces accordingly. At the same time, I view it as a creative challenge to incorporate these human-centered insights into the project’s brand guidelines and objectives.
