Lee Bowles

My formative years were spent working in historic renovation, custom cabinet making, fine woodworking, and musical instrument making, and teaching music. I’ve worked at VMFA for the last 34 years. I use creative problem solving to act as a bridge between exhibition design and production. My focus is ensuring that designs can be built, assembled, and installed easily and cost effectively. I find ways to balance the needs of lenders, conservators, fabricators, trades, and art installers with seemingly impossible deadlines.
