Laura O’Grady recently completed her MA in Exhibition and Experience Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She holds a BA from Queen’s University (Ontario, Canada) in Political Studies and Global Development, where she found her way into design by completing graphic design for every extracurricular club she joined.

Before starting her master’s, she worked in communications for her alma mater and a non-profit that facilitates youth learning journeys in the Arctic. Having grown up in Ontario, she loves camping and getting outdoors as much as possible. In the city that means bird watching, biking and taking long walks to the best bagel places.

While studying exhibition and experience design at FIT, Laura was among a small cohort of design professionals working on projects in exhibition design, graphic design, lighting design, branding, museum theory and more. Her thesis project involved creating Sleep Factory, an exhibition designed to expose visitors to the crucial function of sleep and the impact of sleep deprivation through an immersive, sensorial linear experience. Her thesis paper delved into how great design can serve the maintenance, strengthening and creation of adult friendship. Additionally, Laura was a Graduate Dean’s Fellow and a runner-up in EDPA’s Annual Design Competition.

Laura is eager to apply her multidisciplinary background and design skills in the workplace and is actively seeking out new roles. Please reach out if you are interested in connecting!
