John Lutz runs the Chicago office of Selbert Perkins and brings to SPD the ability to turn verbal concepts into powerful graphic identities and dynamic communications programs. John Lutz has been an integral part of the SPD team for nearly two decades starting in the Los Angels office and then moving to Chicago to start the Chicago office for the firm. Deeply committed to a project’s success, John Lutz’s remarkable creativity and diligence have resulted in bold, unique design solutions that consistently exceed client expectations. He has developed comprehensive branded communications master plans for projects around the world such as the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, McCarran International Airport, City Center – Aria Resort and Casino Las Vegas, Universal Studios, Port of Los Angeles, Sony World Headquarters, University Park at MIT and many more.

At SPD, John Lutz has worked in all mediums — identity, print, packaging, electronic media and environmental graphic design – and on a broad range of communications programs. He takes a sculptural approach to his environmental work, creating systems that provide both visual drama and effective communication, and he brings imagination and creative energy to all of his projects.

John Lutz was appointed to the SEGD Board of Directors in 2010, served as the Vice President in 2014-2015 and as President in 2016-2017.
His specialties are Branding, Print Graphics, Public Art, Sculpture, Signage and Wayfinding and Environmental Graphic Design
John received a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from the University of Cincinnati
