I have over 30 years of experience designing and scaling innovative educational programs. I love to translate informal learning expertise into dynamic, mission-driven experiences, I have worked at the National Building Museum, the International Spy Museum, and most recently, KID Museum, where I served as Chief Experience Officer.
Now an independent consultant, I partner with organizations such as the Museum of Makers and Innovators (MOMI) and The Allied Museum in Berlin. Beyond my consulting practice, I servesas Vice President of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums, teaches as an adjunct professor in Johns Hopkins University’s Museum Studies Department, and I’m a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences.
Ask me about
Ask me about how to ensure that the mission and vision of an organization is actually felt by the visitors in a museum. Ask me about how we revisioned the International Spy Museum.
My super power is
Thinking unconventionally. Taking references from non-museum settings and modalities and applying them to how people experience content, objects, concepts in a museum.
I'm looking for
Projects that center the visitor, are innovative in how they deeply engage and get people to think about themselves and their place in the world.
What I love about experience design
I love seeing visitors of all ages and backgrounds come alive in a space and knowing that the team intentionally designed for all types of learners and with the learner as the center of the expeerience.
Best piece of advice I've ever heard
Listen to visitors, don’t assume everyone is like you.
Where I find Inspiration
I find inspiration in playgrounds.
