Harriet Spear is the Principal of Harriet Spear Studio in New York, a multidisciplinary design studio focusing on wayfinding analysis and master planning, placemaking and interpretation, branding and communications. Projects range from museums to educational and cultural institutions, transportation facilities, parks and public places.
The studio was founded in 2002 by Harriet Spear building upon a 25 year career as an environmental graphic designer, project manager and design studio director. Harriet Spear Studio consists of a team of highly collaborative designers, with extensive experience and expertise, offering the highest quality processes and results.

What I love about experience design
I have always loved to untangle a knot, a shoelace, a garden hose… something about that level of concentration calms me. You can’t do it in haste or it gets worse, you must slow down and really look at the situation closely. Wayfinding analysis is kind of like that. It’s fascinating to figure a place out and then use design and communications to transform an experience.
