Emily Morishita

Emily Morishita is an environmental graphic designer focusing on creating public spaces that are lively, enriching, and accessible with placemaking, wayfinding, exhibits, signage, and environmental graphics. Projects include the People St identity and environmental graphics for the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, seat fabric for the LA Metro system, and exhibition graphics for the Getty Museum, LACMA, and The Huntington. She was a team member of the first Community Planning Assistance Team for the American Planning Association of California—providing pro bono planning and design services for the city of Kingsburg. As a senior designer at Hunt Design in Pasadena, Emily designs signage systems for various cities, parks, universities, and museums. Clients at Hunt Design include Los Angeles World Airports, California State University Long Beach, and the city of Santa Cruz.
While working at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Emily Morishita designed materials ranging from street banners to press kits to gallery graphics. She was also involved in space planning, gallery layout, and casework design. Her strengths include managing multiple projects and deadlines and overseeing other designers, freelancers, and fabricators.
Emily Morishita earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design from the California Institute of the Arts.
