Emily is the Co-Founder and President of Tessellate, an integrated exhibit and experience design studio with a foundation in innovative technology. Our medium is the imaginative use of spatial design, visual design, technology, media, and storytelling. We create environments that have proven to invite interaction and increase engagement.

Emily draws upon her expertise to create rich, meaningful experiences. Her design strategies facilitate engagement, inspire meaningful connections, and activate audiences for a wide array of project types. With more than 20 years of expertise in developing narrative environments and designing technology frameworks for storytelling, Emily oversees the design of multiple disciplines, including interaction, software, and content design at Tessellate. Her experience includes being the project lead for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Augmented Reality Experience – winner of the Core77 Award in Interaction Design (2023) and Notable in Emerging Technologies (2023) – and the inaugural exhibit for the National Women’s History Museum. She has led the design management for the Tompkins Center for History and Culture, Mobile Food Lab, and YO1 Museum. Additional expertise includes the interaction design of the Statue of Liberty Museum (ESI Design), design management for the BioBus, and several exhibits at the National Museum of Mathematics. As an adjunct instructor at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program, she teaches a graduate course, Cabinets of Wonder, which focuses on experience and exhibit design with an emphasis on interactivity and spatial experience design. Emily was a recently featured designer in Fast Company. She holds a master’s degree in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University (ITP) and a BA in Studio Art from Earlham College.
