Before his recent retirement, Donald Kiel was the Manager of Wayfinding & Visitor Information at New York-Presbyterian, a world-class academic medical center committed to excellence in patient care, research, education and community service. Based in New York City, it is one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive hospitals and a leading provider of inpatient, ambulatory and preventive care in all areas of medicine.
Previous to that, Donald Kiel was Director of Graphic Design at Swanke Hayden Connell Architects for over 20 years. He managed a five to seven member team of graphic and industrial designers for a wide variety of print and three-dimensional projects. Outside project consultation and in-house graphic design support is provided to SHCA offices in Washington, D.C., Miami, Stamford, London and Istanbul. Donald also served as Vice President of Design 360. He was a director of a multi-disciplined design group providing graphic design services in the areas of exhibit design, corporate branding, print, architectural and environmental graphics. Donald Kiel’s projects include Museum of the Moving Image where he was an environmental graphic design consultant, IBM Corporate Headquarters, American Express Headquarters Battery Park and FDNY Training Academy in NYC.
