Ciera Iveson is a exhibition and experience designer currently based in Portland, Oregon, working on design teams around the country. Her design experience spans museum exhibitions, traveling exhibitions, entertainment experiences, and media installations. Her recent work can be seen in Harry Potter: Visions of Magic (XL Creative Studios), The Children’s Museum at Saratoga (Peter Hyde Design) and in progress work with the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.
Prior to her design career, Ciera had 10 years of experience developing new theatrical works in New York City. Her passion for developing new stories led her to exhibition design, with an interest in combining the respective strengths of theater and exhibitions to make engaging stories for physical and virtual spaces. She has a MA in Exhibition and Experience Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Ask me about
How classic theater techniques can be used in museum interactives to support the development of historical empathy.
My super power is
Super Synthesis. I am known to combine something I know from one aspect of my life (triathlon, musical theater, quilting, you name it!) with a solution on a project.
I'm looking for
Building industry relationships to stay on the front edge of design.
What I love about experience design
Exhibition Design. I love the significance of always working at the service of the visitor/audience. Staying focused on how a visitor moves, touches, feels, and takes in story keeps me engaged and excited daily.
Best piece of advice I've ever heard
Let my thinking lead before my words.
