An architect, designer, and entrepreneur, Brad has spent the past 20+ years dedicated to visitor-focused experience design. During that time, he’s been called upon by organizations including Boeing, Google, Levi’s, Comcast, Kaiser Permanente, and the Boys & Girls Clubs to find new ways of educating, engaging, and entertaining audiences of all ages. In 2021, he was recognized as a “40 Under 40” recipient by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Brad is the Founder & CEO of Crafted Action – an innovation consultancy that enables organizations to create impactful & seamless visitor experiences, onsite & online. The company’s trademarked process, Experiential Master Planning® (EMP), is a proven tool for helping organizations create seamless visitor experiences between digital and physical spaces. The EMP puts the end-user at the center of a holistic journey. It encourages deeper engagement, increases loyalty, and provides a better return on investment.

Brad received an M.Arch from Yale University and a B.Arch with Distinction from Iowa State University. He previously practiced architecture with KieranTimberlake, Pelli Clarke Pelli, and HNTB Sport. Brad has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Temple University, where he created a new course on Design & Entrepreneurship. He’s been a visiting critic at Princeton, Penn, Syracuse, Indiana University, & Michigan State and has lectured at innovation & design conferences across the country, including at SXSW, the Hopscotch Design Festival, the American Institute of Architects Conference, and the American Alliance of Museums Conference.

Quick Facts:

> While he’s lived in Philadelphia since 2007, Brad is still a Midwesterner at heart, having spent his childhood in Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. As a result, he sometimes uses funny expressions, but he’s also not afraid to jump in and do the hard work.

> Brad is involved with several Philly-based organizations focused on education, communities, and the arts, including the Friends of Chester Arthur Elementary, the Friends of the Rail Park, and the Mann Center for Performing Arts.

> He was recently involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as the Chair of the 2022 “Big Climb” event which has raised over $500k. He is passionate about LLS because his 10-year-old son, Jack, fought and beat cancer between 2018-2021.

> He also has a six-year-old son named Jude and has been happily married to his wife, Katie, the Executive Director of Entrepreneur’s Organization Philadelphia, for over 10 years.

> Brad was on SportsCenter after hitting a half-court shot for $10k at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn

What I love about experience design

This question is cut off and just says, “What I love about,” so I’ll take a guess. What I love about the SEGD community is that it’s the go-to spot for people who want to turn pain points and banal experiences into memorable moments.

Best piece of advice I've ever heard

Be like a duck: Cool, calm, and collected above water, but below water, kicking like hell!

Where I find Inspiration

From travel and any situation where somebody has come up with a “hacked” solution that could actually indicate a brilliant idea.
