The Rebellion Lives On At The Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center

The Stonewall Rebellion is one of the most iconic moments in LGBTQIA+ history. The courageous community uprising against a police raid at the Stonewall Inn on June 28, 1969 inspired a wellspring of early activism and organizing that laid the foundation for future generations.

Now, Local Project’s clients at Pride Live have transformed 51 Christopher Street, once part of the Stonewall Inn, into the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center (SNMVC), the first LGBTQIA+ visitor center within the National Parks System. Local Projects developed the central historic exhibition, a timeline of LGBTQIA+ history that contextualizes the importance of the Stonewall Rebellion.

The Visitor Center is now open to the public, so please visit and let us know what you think!
