Studio Ongarato Designs Signage for Ace Hotel Sydney

An animated GIF showing wayfinding signage at Ace Hotel Sydney, designed by Studio Ongarato. The text 'EVENT SPACES' appears in bold, geometric lettering, crafted from dark material and mounted on a textured concrete wall with a wood grain pattern. The signage is positioned above a staircase with a raw, red-toned concrete surface that mirrors the wall texture. The animation highlights the signage’s interaction with light and shadow, emphasizing its three-dimensional form and integration with the architectural materials.

Studio Ongarato has designed custom signage for Ace Hotel Sydney, the brand’s first location in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere. Located in Surry Hills, the hotel integrates heritage architecture by Bates Smart with interiors by Flack Studio.

The Studio Ongarato Ace Hotel Sydney signage takes inspiration from Australian modernist architects Robin Boyd, Enrico Taglietti, and Bruce Rickard. Bold geometries and raw materials, uncommon in traditional signage, create a seamless connection with the hotel’s textured interiors. This approach reflects Sydney’s architectural and cultural heritage while enhancing the guest experience.
