Reclaiming Value: Sacred Valley Design Immersion

SEGD Partner Murmur Ring’s four-day immersion in Peru’s Sacred Valley, June 23-27, 2025

In our hyper digital world, we have an increased need to gather, experience, and exchange ideas with one another in the real world. Murmur Ring immersions offer purpose-driven leaders direct contact with peers, new-to-the-world models, and experts pioneering innovative solutions to global challenges, creating the conditions for transformative thinking.

Now, the immersive design and storytelling team has partnered with the Institute of Design and Lima-based consultancy Empathy to curate a four-day immersion in Peru’s Sacred Valley: Reclaiming Value: Sacred Valley Design Immersion.

A peaceful outdoor garden area at a resort in the Peruvian highlands, with round tables and chairs shaded by green umbrellas. A hammock is strung between wooden posts near a stone wall lined with plants. A thatched-roof cabana with wicker lounge seating sits to the right. In the background, a large mountain rises against a clear blue sky, creating a tranquil and scenic setting.

The Reclaiming Value: Sacred Valley Design Immersion will utilize Peru’s Sacred Valley as a living research site to find inspiration at the confluence of traditional and contemporary practices and consider pathways to sustained growth that benefit the region and preserve its resources.

With its agricultural fertility, astronomical alignment, and archeological sites, the region has long been a spiritual destination. In recent years innovations in gastronomy pioneered in The Sacred Valley have garnered global recognition resulting in an influx of new development, technology, and tourism.

Now is a critical moment to consider design’s role as a medium to harness opportunities and mitigate risks to environment and culture associated with accelerated popularity of a place as a tourist destination with our Peruvian site partners:

  • VIDAWASI, healthcare pioneers decentralizing pediatric healthcare in Peru
  • Ceramics Seminario, an individual art practice turned community economic force
  • MIL Cenetro, a food lab preserving native species and leading innovations in gastronomy
  • Tierra Viva, an all-inclusive hotel experience
  • Destilería Andina, blending tradition and innovation in medicinal spirits
  • Awamaki, a community-led cultural sustainability platform
A cozy and modern interior space with warm wooden finishes, where three people sit at a round table engaged in an activity, assisted by a staff member. The room features high ceilings with exposed wooden beams, soft lighting, and large windows letting in natural light. Botanical illustrations are displayed on floating shelves against a dark wall. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, suggesting a creative or educational workshop setting.

Two people stand smiling and talking on a hillside at sunset, overlooking the ancient agricultural terraces of Moray in Peru. Behind them, the Andes mountains stretch across the horizon, bathed in warm golden light. The landscape is dry and rugged, with dirt paths winding through the hills and tall grass in the foreground.
