Local Projects Helps Shape the Theodore Roosevelt Library Experience
Local Projects helped shape the visitor experience at the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota. The firm developed a preliminary Interpretive Master Plan that supported the project’s early creative direction, then designed the exhibition experience, created the institutional brand identity, and developed core exhibition content. Local Projects worked with a broader project team that included design architect Snøhetta, architect of record JLG Architects, Future of StoryTelling, Dimensional Innovations, Electrosonic, and other collaborators.
Across more than 30,000 square feet of exhibition space, visitors can explore Theodore Roosevelt’s life through artifacts, personal stories, interactive displays, and views of the Badlands. A central Narrative Gallery follows his life, while connected Adventure Galleries examine his childhood, political career, military service, conservation work, travels, and personal losses. Designed for children, casual visitors, and history enthusiasts, the experience encourages guests to consider values such as daring greatly, thinking boldly, living passionately, and caring deeply.
