Historical Integrity and the Power of Story

For over 25 years, Solid Light has operated from the core belief that thoughtfully crafted, emotionally engaging experiences transform understanding and create lasting personal and societal impact. We are passionate about the cultural institutions we serve because they are more than just destinations—they are dynamic spaces that connect us to the human story and serve as the bedrock of our shared knowledge and collective memory.

As foundational pillars of a democratic society, museums and cultural institutions are some of our nation’s most trusted resources for information. We stand in solidarity with our industry colleagues and will continue to uphold the freedom of thought and expression that defines the American experience. For centuries, these institutions have served as globally renowned models of scholarship and public engagement, upholding the highest standards of meticulous research, intellectual honesty, and a willingness to embrace the complexity of our past with the courage to tell the full story.

Historical accuracy cannot be attained through attacks on First Amendment rights or biased viewpoints. Stripping away the nuance, struggle, and rich detail from our nation’s narrative is a disservice to us all. When institutions are robbed of their ability to educate through truth and evidence, the public’s opportunity to learn from the past is undermined, as is the essential role museums play in fostering an informed and curious community.

Solid Light is committed to creating spaces where every visitor can find a reflection of themselves, where difficult truths are explored with care and honesty, and where new dialogue promotes a deeper understanding of our world. We firmly believe museums are essential spaces for fact-based, thought-provoking engagement with history, science, art, and culture.

Our company will continue to champion these institutions and the professionals who work tirelessly to defend their independence. We urge our community and all who value our shared heritage to reject these efforts and stand up to support our organizations in their critical role of preserving our past, inspiring our present, and informing our future.
