Dimensional Innovations (DI), a leading experience design, technology and fabrication firm, has unveiled an interactive donor wall at the new Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s) Arthur M. Blank Hospital. In its first 90 days, Children’s received more than 100 donations from this merging philanthropic engagement with a playful, interactive experience.

Central to DI’s approach was creating an environment that would appeal to Children’s young patients and their families while also offering donors a meaningful way to contribute. The 18-by-8-foot LED Interactive digital wall features a living digital forest where woodland creatures come to life with every new donation. By scanning a simple QR code, visitors can “adopt” an animal, watch it appear on the screen and even find it again on future visits.

DI’s work extends beyond the interactive digital wall to honor donors past and present. A 47-foot-long LED screen and a complementary floor-to-ceiling graphic in the hospital lobby celebrate Arthur Blank, whose family foundation generously donated $200 million in support of the new hospital. Nearby, the annual donor recognition wall— a 20-by-10-foot LED installation — lists additional contributors against a tranquil, water-themed backdrop. Visitors can scan a QR code to locate a specific donor’s name, which then appears on a smaller circular display before appearing on the main display.

In the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, an LED screen highlights key benefactors who have propelled life-saving research and critical programs, underscoring the hospital’s nearly 30-year partnership with Aflac Inc.

Together, these high-tech donor installations complement other design elements. Over a thousand unique graphics and art pieces were created, including paintings and colorful wall installations. These pieces take inspiration from the Blue Ridge Mountains and animal-filled Piedmont forests to create a playful and serene environment for patients and their families.

“We were honored to be a part of this project with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, said Tucker Trotter, CEO of Dimensional Innovations. “Children’s work is critical and finding ways to elevate the hospital to provide a more complete patient experience, while also connecting Children’s with donors has been a rewarding experience.”

Children’s is one of the largest pediatric clinical care providers in the country, managing over one million patient visits each year. When planning its new hospital, Children’s prioritized an environment that would be comfortable and welcoming for every patient, family member and visitor.
