The Moody Family Children’s Museum at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas has reopened with a bold new vision: to nurture imagination and empower young children to be brave, curious and daring. World-renowned European companies Bruns and NorthernLight formed a design-build consortium to create this innovative museum experience. Together with the passionate team of the Perot Museum, this close collaboration resulted in a playful, colorful and larger-than-life environment where more than 180 interactive touchpoints invite open-ended discovery.
Design-build process
“The Perot Museum of Nature and Science’s collaboration with Bruns + NorthernLight has breathed fresh life into one of our most important and most visited exhibitions. With their unique, sophisticated and inspired vision, the Moody Family Children’s Museum has instantly become a must-visit destination for families with early learners. As Dallas’ premier nature, science and children’s museum, we’re delighted to be the North American showcase for Bruns + NorthernLight and to be able to inspire our guests in new and unexpected ways that have them returning to discover even more.”

In the design-build process of the Moody Family Children’s Museum, Bruns + NorthernLight and the Perot team established a strong partnership built on mutual strengths and clear communication. Navigating differences with care and bridging time zones with ease, the collaboration was smooth and constructive. Co-creation was key to the design process, supported by online meetings as well as on-site visits and workshop approvals in the Netherlands and Dallas. For development and production of the iconic Imaginarium exhibit, digital agency Kiss the Frog was added to the team. Production took place at the Bruns factory in the Netherlands, after which the exhibits were carefully shipped and installed on site. The precisely organized process made it possible to go from first concept to opening in only 16 months. Bruns and NorthernLight now continue to work on inspiring projects in North America.
